FK'D Workshop is a multidisciplinary design studio founded by Architect Faizan Khatri.
Best known for a hands-on approach, the studio constantly explores traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design ideals to create functional and timeless pieces. Through material innovation and collaboration with some of the best craftspeople in the industry, the design sensibilities of FK’D Workshop shape unique products to compliment the spaces envisioned.
The studio’s work also extends into the visual arts, being recognized for pushing the boundaries of design to craft unique experiences and tell a story.
With a portfolio which encompasses a diverse range of projects, from designing some of the country’s most iconic hospitality spaces to creating impactful public art installations, the studio has carved out a distinctive niche in the design world, creating bespoke spaces across India and internationally.
Faizan Khatri is a Mumbai-based architect renowned for his innovative and contextually responsive designs, with a keen emphasis on experimental, collaborative, and socially engaged projects, heavy on craft.
With over two decades of professional experience and 18 years as an educator in multiple architecture schools, Faizan is deeply interested in engaging with students as well.
Having acted as a design chair at an architecture school in Mumbai and participated in teaching across the country, Faizan’s constant relationship to academia is a source of inspiration for his work.
He is a member of the executive committee for the St+Art Foundation’s Mumbai street art festivals.
Alongside his work in design and academia, Faizan is immensely passionate about street animal welfare and has founded The Initiative.life, a not for profit organisation that aspires to achieve equality through design. A constant burning flame alongside his practice and pedagogy, gathering momentum through research based explorations and design interventions, the initiative.life's works have been recognised by the government and the organization thereafter been engaged in bringing design for animals on our streets.
Faizan’s unique ability to blend creativity with compassion has allowed him to craft interventions that sit at the intersection of design and social responsibility, making a lasting impact on both the built environment and the community at large.
